The first mod: Speculation


Today I'm going to present you the next and first mod for "Market". This mod is called "speculation" and will bring back the concept of market.

Personally, when I play, the first thing I do is to develop my plants. They allow me to gain a lot of resources quite easily, especially at the beginning of the game. What is surprising is that artificial intelligences do not develop this strategy very much. Generally, they develop a purely speculative strategy where they constantly buy and sell resources. This difference between AI and human is indicative of a problem in the design of the former. In this regard, special attention will be given to them in a future update. Nevertheless, this has an interest: to show that it is possible to play "Market" only with speculation.

The "speculation" mod removes the plants. It is no longer possible for the player to speculate on a high or low price but only on a price variation. To add more spice to the game, the single market of the base game has been transformed into four markets. These have different settings. For example, the first market does not have a mechanism to smooth out price changes. This means that prices can change very quickly, but also that in some situations no trade can take place. The other three markets have mechanisms that smooth prices to a greater or lesser extent. The first of them corresponds to the basic game market and the last two have more pronounced mechanisms.

Since the markets do not have the same prices, you can make big profits (or losses) quickly by buying in one market and selling in another. Personally, I wouldn't have too much advice to give you as I have always been very inefficient at predicting prices!
